Greene And Greene At Woodworking In America

Meet Master Craftsman Jim Ipekjian

My geekiness for the early 20th-century work of Charles and Henry Greene, made by Peter Hall and John Hall is sometimes not obvious. It can also have the subtlety and elegance of a big brass band or a fireworks display at other times. One of the things Im looking forward to the most at the upcoming Woodworking in America conference is the rare opportunity to spend some time with the guy who knows more about Greene & Greene furniture than anyone alive. Jim Ipekjian, who has been reproducing and restoring this work for many years, will be one the featured speakers at the conference.

I met Jim a few years ago, and wrote an article about him and his work for the December 2006 issue of . He stays pretty busy with his work, and it isnt often that he takes the time for an event like this. Jim will speak about his past work, including the restoration of the Blacker home and the reconstruction of its light fixtures. He also talks about what he is currently doing (a beautiful inlay in the Greene & Greene design). In addition to his presentation, Jim will be available to answer questions and talk to attendees during some informal sessions.

Im planning on indulging my geekiness, and Ill be comfortable knowing Im not alone.
